Dean and Me

I finished Dean and Me: (A Love Story) by Jerry Lewis and James Kaplan this weekend. While the book jumps around in time a lot, it’s still a great homage to Martin and Lewis’ partnership. It was very touching. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their road to fame as well as Lewis’ view of legendary people (movie stars and mobsters) back in the day. I’ve always been a huge fan of Dean Martin’s movies and voice above all, so I love reading anyone’s portrayal of him.

I’m about halfway through Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1) by Christopher Paolini. Since the movie is coming out next month, I wanted to read it first. And I’m definitely impressed so far. I’ve been telling friends that it’s a cross between the Harry Potter books and Lord of the Rings (except far easier to read). I’m not a big reader of fantasy, but I’m really enjoying this so far. I’ll present a full review when I’ve finished.

  1. I’m looking forward to the film as well. Don’t know that I’ll read the books but I’ve heard good things. I think Mary has read and enjoyed them.

Glad the Dean Martin book was good. I really enjoy the Martin/Lewis films.

  2. I haaaaaate Jerry Lewis so I probably won’t be able to read his book, even for Dean, whom, naturally, I love.

The kid on the plane to Montreal with me last Sept was reading Eragorn in French. For some reason, that really jazzed me.

  3. Carrie – I’m definitely not a fan of Jerry Lewis either. Notice, I didn’t say that I love Martin & Lewis.. just Martin. LOL
Though I have to admit I enjoyed watching The Nutty Professor as a child.

  4. Hmm… I might give Eragon a go – saw it in the library recently. My take on dragons is rather biased as I love Anne McCaffrey’s Pern/dragon books but I guess there could be room for some more dragons!

  5. I’ve been wanting to read Eragon. I don’t know if I can get to it before the movie comes out, though. I’ve been seeing ads for the movie and it looks good. What to do, what to do? Maybe I’ll read all of one day and not do anything else.
