Thursday 13 of Upcoming Movies

With the release of Eragon tomorrow, I decided to list the
Upcoming Movies I’m Excited About Seeing for Thursday 13,
In no particular order…

1. Eragon (2006) – The best book I’ve read all year.
2. Night at the Museum (2006) – Ben Stiller, I’m there.
3. Spider-Man 3 (2007) – Everyone’s favorite web crawler back to break more records at the box office.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007) – The last of the blockbuster trilogy.
5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) – “You will lose everything.”
6. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) – Releases this weekend as well.
7. Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) – Hoping my favorite galactic surfer looks as cool as he does in the comics.
8. Transformers: The Movie (2007) – I just hope it’s not major cheese.
9. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) – The filming has just started, so I have time to re-read the book several times before this release.
10. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2008) – Supposedly, the filming has started for this one too… since the actors are growing up faster than the movies are releasing.
11. Iron Man (2008) – Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man… should be great!
12. Wonder Woman (200?) – Joss Whedon hasn’t picked his leading lady yet, but I have high hopes when it comes to anything he does.
13. Star Trek XI (200?) – Only rumors at the moment, but supposedly will be centered around Kirk and Spock’s days at the Academy.

  1. I can’t wait to read Eragon!! My son read it this summer, and two of my students read it this fall. Right now, I’m stumbling through Grisham’s The Innocent Man which is getting more boring with every page…you’ve convinced me. I’m abandoning it now for Eragon. Can’t wait to talk about it with you when I’m done!

  2. I need to read Eragon before I see the movie. It’s next on my reading list once I get through my current yummy romance.

I hope they don’t mess up Transformers either. The fact that it’s a live action movie and they got the original voice actors back is thrilling. I can’t wait!

  3. Yea, Bellezza! I’m sure you’ll love it.
Both my sister & brother-in-law did.. and they loved the 2nd one even more! … I was nice and let them read it before I did. It’s not like I’m lacking for books to read. lol

  4. 🙂 Bought Eragon yesterday. Shopping for books for gifts, I ended up getting 2 more for gifts, and 1 for me! Every time I go in a book store, my will power breaks down…

  5. Awesome list! I’m also looking forward to Eragon and The Pursuit of Happyness . And of course the HP movies!

I loved the book Eragon, though Eldest was even better I thought!

    Happy TT

  6. I need to read Eragon before I see the movie. Sounds like my kind of list of movies. I am so excited about the next two installments of Harry Potter. Though I found the Order of Phoenix seemed forced (like she was forced to write or forced herself to write it). Half Blood Prince kicked ass though ….

  7. Great idea for TT!

I can’t wait for the Harry Potter movies either. I just saw the poster for the Order of Phoenix when we were at the theatre last week and I got all excited about it. Also, must see POTC III because II ended in such a way that you need to and hey, who can resist Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow?

  8. We are going to catch Eragon this weekend. Hope it is at least as good as it looks on the trailer.

I’m looking forward to Pan’s Labyrinth which will hopefully be released at the end of this month.

Am disappointed that nothing is really brewing yet for Hellboy 2.

Also looking forward to Stardust in the summer.

  9. Jenclair – I’ll be looking forward to hearing what you think as well!

Annie – Well, I have high hopes for The Eldests now that everyone has said it’s better than the first!

Amy – I’m sure you’ll love Eragon then… now hurry up and read it!

  10. Carl – Pan’s Labyrinth may be a little too dark and disturbing for me. I may wait for the dvd.
I didn’t know that Stardust will be out next year tho! I will be looking forward to that!
Yeah, the Hellboy 2 thing needs to get going already.

  11. Colleen – Yeah, I was disappointed to hear that they’re just now starting to film. The kids will be grown by the time they’re ready for The Last Battle!

  12. Oooh, these all sound great. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that they show up on the overseas military theater circuit in a reasonable amount of time.

  13. Darla – I hope they let you see these too!

Alyssa – I’m alwalys needing more female friends to go see scifi/fantasy movies with me.. For some reason only the guys want to go. 😛

  14. I can’t wait for most of those movies, either. We’re a little behind though–haven’t seen Pirates 2 yet. Four kids kinda makes movie-going tough.

By the way, TNT OnDemand had the 1st Librarian movie for free (LOVE THAT!) and I really enjoyed it. I’ll have to watch for a re-airing of the 2nd. (Oh, and I’d almost forgotten how cute Noah Wyle is–shameful!)

  15. Alyssa – Yeah, Serenity was great! I actually got a bunch of girlfriends to go see that with me!

Amy – I understand that.. most of your movie watching must be on video, eh?
And I’m so glad you got to see The Librarian & liked it!! Let me know if you get sick of waiting and I can make a tape for you & send it. (It’s on my DVR.) Yes, Noah Wyle is such a cutie.. and hasn’t aged since ER.

  16. I cannot wait to see a lot of these movies. My uncle is Mr. Spiderman fan and he brings all the cousins to the movies. for the first movie he even had them make us Tshirts. How wierd is that?!

Eragon I loved. The story was wonderful, the writing so-so. I love Star Treck movies and am mad that they are making Prince Caspian. What happened to Magician’s Nephew and my ALL TIME ULTRA SUPER DUPER FAV Horse and his Boy? *sob*

  17. Nessie – Prince Caspian was the 2nd book to be published, so I’m sure they’re just going in the correct order for the movies… not chronological. They’ll get around to the rest of them eventually.

  18. I think you are right on the CS Lewis novels… though I thought Magician’s Nephew was before Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. (as far as chronology not published order… I always liked ‘Last Battle’ and ‘The Silver Chair’ myself)

Pity about Eragon… I have had friends who were huge fans of the book warn me away from it (as they saw the movie and were terribly dissapointed)… and can’t wait for FF2 and Spiderman 3 (even if they have Topher Grace playing Eddie Brock, not quite what I envisioned, ah well)
