SciFi Book Review: The Infinite Sea

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

Synopsis:
How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Review:
The Infinite Sea is the sequel to The Fifth Wave, and I enjoyed this story much more than the first. Still told from alternating viewpoints, including Ringer this time, it was a bit confusing again at first. But as Ringer goes her own way, it becomes easier to follow.

The characters are incredibly vivid and complex and are put in impossible situations that threaten their humanity let alone their lives. The suspense is intensified, with even more big reveals. And Ringer’s adventure was the highlight for me, with plenty of psychological drama, suspense, and mystery. I look forward to the third and final volume coming soon.
