Star Trek: Picard: Firewall – Book Review

Star Trek: Picard: Firewall by David Mack

Synopsis:
Two years after the USS Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant, Seven of Nine finds herself rejected for a position in Starfleet…and instead finds a new home with the interstellar rogue law enforcement corps known as the Fenris Rangers. The Rangers seem like an ideal fit for Seven—but to embrace this new destiny, she must leave behind all she’s ever known, and risk losing the most important thing in her life: her friendship with Admiral Kathryn Janeway.

Review:
Firewall is a prequel story to the Picard series that focuses solely on Seven and her journey to join the Fenris Rangers – as well as giving a bit of a backstory to why she didn’t join Starfleet initially after getting back to the Alpha quadrant.

This latest Star Trek novel is full of intrigue, suspense, action, and drama. Mack does a fantastic job of showing a Seven who has grown and changed since her Voyager days, yet still holds a familiar relationship with Janeway. And an impressive new villain will put Seven to the test to stop his seemingly insurmountable force. Fans of Voyager and Picard will want to check out this fast-paced, action-packed, and heartbreaking story that paves the way for this fantastic new series.
