Good News & Glad Tidings

Good News! Borders has released the name of the 7th Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and is allowing people to reserve their copy now.

And I received two packages full of books in the mail yesterday from author, and TV producer,Lee Goldberg! I have previously reviewed one of his books here.

I had ordered Beyond the Beyond directly from his site, but there was a mix-up, and I didn’t receive it. And so, to correct the mistake, Mr. Goldberg signed and personalized (with funny messages) not only Beyond the Beyond, but 3 others as well! In the packages were:
Diagnosis Murder: The Silent Partner – Which he signed and wrote, “Angela, You’re too young to be reading this.” I owned this one previously, but had loaned it to a friend who never returned it. Needless to say, I was happy he chose to send this one! Now, I have the whole set again.
Diagnosis Murder: The Shooting Script – On this one he signed and wrote, “Angela, Writing this book was… (underlined the word “Murder” in the title.)”
Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse – Here he signed and wrote something about 20 tires, I think. I don’t know. I couldn’t read his handwriting. Anyway, I love Monk, so I can’t wait to read this one as well.

Mr. Goldberg definitely knows how to keep his fans happy!

Well, I have already had a good start to my holidays. I’ll be up visiting my folks for a few days, but I’ll be back to posting Wednesday morning.
I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I leave you with the work of one of my favorite painters, Caravaggio, and his Adoration of the Shepherds:

And thus, endeth my entries in the 2006 G.I.F.T. Challenge.

  1. Caravaggio is one of mine favourite painters too!!!

Sadly I haven’t many chances to enjoy in his work but I surely will not forget his David and Goliath (Prado) and Santa Catalina de Alejandría (Thyssen-Bornemisza) from Madrid last year …

  2. Very cool!
I think my favorite of his is The Crucifixion of Saint Peter.
In college, I was able to take a trip to Italy with one of my Art professors. We hit about every museum and cathedral along the way, from Milan to Padova to Venice to Florence to Pisa to Rome!
I saw quite a few of Caravaggio’s works up close.
That was a trip of a lifetime!

  3. Well of course the most important thing is the due date of the new Potter book. Sweet! I can’t wait to read the end of the saga. Then I’ll be sad it’s over.

  4. Monk is a great series… might have the check out the book. Btw, saw the Star Trek Vucan Trilogy in the sidebar… is it any good? My local library has it and I had been thinking of picking it up, but I am sort of particular on Star Trek novels (and Star Wars novels for that matter).

Oh, and have a great holiday and prosperous new year 🙂

  5. Have a Happy Holidays and Great New Year Angela. Thanks for the name of the new Potter book. My internet went crazy Thursday and I haven’t been able to access anything until today. So, I missed the initial release of the Potter name. I hope Harry survives, I really do.

I hope you get Daniel Craig under the tree. If not him a home planetarium wouldn’t be bad either! LOL!

  6. I can’t wait until the new Harry Potter comes out! One of my friends actually goes to the Borders’ release party at midnight which is one thing I hope to do this year. Lucky you for receiving such a box of books! I like how you posted a picture for us; they seem to express the season perfectly. A very Merry Christmas to you, Angela.

  7. Chris – The Vulcan Trilogy is very good. I like these self-contained arcs. And I love the story of Vulcans & Romulans & anything that has to do with them… so…

Nalini – Thanks! Can’t wait to read it!
