Storm Force

Storm Force, by Meredith Fletcher, is a perfect vacation read. The author was kind enough to send me a copy, and I finished it over the course of just a few hours.

Kate Garrett is a wilderness guide in Florida. But an impending, disastrous hurricane is the least of her worries. Her ex-husband has sent their children to stay with her for a while, but someone seems to be following them. Escaped convicts capture Kate and use her to guide them to a hidden stash of money. One of the men claims to be an undercover FBI agent. But can she trust him? Especially, when her children’s safety is at risk?

With colorful imagery and a strong heroine, Storm Force is a fun, fast-paced action/adventure story with heart. And a touch of romance. I’ll definitely be looking forward to getting my hands on more books by Meredith Fletcher.

Vamps and the City

Vamps and the City, by Kerrelyn Sparks, is the sequel to How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire. Both are wonderfully funny with an original take on vampire lore.

Vamps and the City begins with CIA agent, Austin Erickson on a cleverly-punned “Stake-Out” of the DVN (Digital Vampire Network) Studio. His job is to locate and destroy vampires. Easy enough, until he meets Darcy Newhart. He’s not sure if she’s a vampire or just a victim, working for them. But when he finds himself falling for her, he may have to choose between his job and the girl.

Throughout their journey, they come across many trials and hardships. And they meet many friendly faces as well as dangerous men. With little to no money, things seem hopeless, but help comes from the strangest places.

The Rover

The Rover, by Mel Odom, is a wonderful start to a great fantasy series.

Wick is a dweller (akin to a hobbit) and Third-Level Librarian for the Vault of All Known Knowledge. His father is disappointed in him for not following him in to the lamp lighting business. And his supervisor is hard on him for reading so many adventure stories instead of educational materials.
