TeeBlox

Star Wars Shirt – This is an iconic scene of Luke vs. Vader that I love. I’m not excited it’s another black shirt, but the silhouette does look cool.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Squadron Sinister Comic and Captain America pin. It’s more of an obscure team with characters I’ve never heard of, but I’ll try it out.

Summary: This is another great shirt design and different comic. And the shirts are always nice quality. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further.

Box Review: Bam ANNIVERSARY Box – January 2017

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. We love the thrill of it, the mystery of it and especially that feeling you get when you have a collectible in your hands that you are really excited about. So we set out to bring something different to everyone.

There are some great subscription boxes on the market, but we felt there was still something missing. We went to the drawing board with the goal of creating the box we would want to show up on our doorstep. After a lot of ideas and prototypes we arrived at the Bam Box. From the design of the box to the items inside to the instant winners we send out, we accomplished what we wanted to do: give you the subscription box we would be jealous of.”

Cost: 1 month plan starts at $24.99 plus $7.99 s/h

Bam Box

The box has a mini mag called “Spoiler Booklet” with details on the box, with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “Anniversary.”

pin

“Stranger Things” Parody Pin – There were 4 options that subscribers could receive. Unfortunately, they should have provided Bam Anniversary pins to all subscribers to celebrate. I’m not a pin collector, but it seems like a missed opportunity.

Bam Box

Battle Bros Print – It doesn’t do anything for me.

Bam Box

Custom, Signed Jason Mask – I’m not a horror fan, so another Jason mask was a disappointment as we already received one several months ago.

Bam Box

One-of-a-Kind Animation Cel: Ghostbusters – This was pretty cool. I loved the Ghostbusters cartoon as a kid.

Bam Box

Full-size License Plate from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – Other options were from Anchorman 2 (which I don’t think I ever watched) and Knight Rider (which would’ve been awesome). I would have loved the Knight Rider plate. And while I love Ferris Bueller, I’m not sure anyone would recognize the license plate.

Summary: This month’s anniversary box was a look back at several popular items from boxes this past year. I liked the unique animation cels idea in this box! And license plates are fun collector’s items. It would have been nice to include something different than a duplicate Jason mask – a different prop replica would’ve been nice.

Next month’s theme is… 90’s!

The theme this month was The Empire Strikes Back!

IMG_3443

The Empire Strikes Back Patch and Pin – these are small collectibles included in each box.

IMG_3444

The box comes with a handy card detailing the items included.

Smuggler's Bounty

Star Wars Socks – I already have several similar pairs, so this was slight a bummer.

Wampa Plush – This is a super cute and super soft plush.

EXCLUSIVE Han with Tauntaun Funko POP! – Despite this having been spoiled weeks ago, this is probably my favorite Star Wars POP yet. My biggest complaint is that the weight distribution is off. It kept tipping forward. Looks like they needed to do more testing on this design.

Summary:
I can’t stand the spoilers, as these are supposed to be mystery boxes. That said, the awesome POP Ride will attract a lot of new subscribers I’m sure. I just wish the rest of the box was better.

Next box theme…. STAR WARS REBELS!

TeeBlox

Star Trek “Keep on Trekkin'” Shirt – I have to admit that I love this shirt. It’s a nice color, a fun design, and a vintage look.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Batman Detective Comic and Wonder Woman pin!

Summary: A fantastic shirt and fun, old school comic. It’s easily one of my favorite picks from one of my top favorite mystery packs. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further.

Box Review: Marvel Collector Corps – December 2016 – X-Men

Marvel Collector Corps

This is the December 2016 box from Collector Corps, and the theme was X-Men.

The Marvel Collector Corps offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

Marvel Collector Corps

Each box comes with an exclusive badge and pin.

Marvel Collector Corps

And a card detailing the contents of the box with a look at early concepts.

Marvel Collector Corps

Champions #1 Variant Comic – With all of the X-Men titles, this is a new one that I’ve never seen before. I’m excited to try it out.

Marvel Collector Corps

Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters Tshirt – I LOVE this shirt! It’s iconic for X-Men fans. And FINALLY it’s another color besides black.

Marvel Collector Corps

EXCLUSIVE Mystique Rock Candy – I’m not crazy about starting another collection, but I love this Mystique figure.

Marvel Collector Corps

EXCLUSIVE Wolverine’s Motorcycle – Can’t beat a Funko POP Ride! This is a great design.

Summary: This one of the best boxes yet. A great shirt and a fantastic POP Ride. The DC version of the Funko box has been sorely lacking, so I haven’t bothered in several months. If they can expand beyond so much Batman-centric picks and become as varied as the Marvel boxes, I may eventually go back.

The next theme will be… Super Hero Showdowns.

Bam Box7

The box has a mini mag called “Spoiler Booklet” with details on the box, with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “Legends.”

Bam Box6

“Winter Is Coming” Parody Pin – There were 4 options that subscribers could receive. I actually like this one the best.

Bam Box4

Vader Down #1 Comic Variant – I love this comic and that it’s a variant is awesome. I’ll definitely be holding onto this one.

Bam Box5

Red Sonja #0 SIGNED Variant – What’s better than a special edition? A signed, special edition. Very cool. And each of these comics and prints comes with Certificates of Authenticity.

Bam Box3

Stargirl SIGNED Photo – As a fan of CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, this was kind of a cool surprise.

Bam Box2

Galactic Samuri Print – There were one of four options we could have received of these prints.

Bam Box

Start Your Own Legend Set – These are cool-looking letter openers! I love that it’s a set of daggers. Though they’re about as sharp as weapons, so I’m glad they came with extra packaging and tip protectors.

Summary: This was a great selection this month – making up for the past few boxes for me. I love the comic selections and the dagger letter openers are unique and awesome – what I came to expect from this different mystery box.

Next month’s theme is… Anniversary! Celebrating Bam Box’s 1-year anniversary!

TeeBlox

Star Trek “Hail Yeah” Shirt – The artwork on this is great! I don’t care for the pun however, but that’s just my taste.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Old school X-Factor! And the bonus item is a Marvel pin. I love Marvel, so these were fun bonus items.

Summary: Despite being another black tshirt, I really like the art on this. The original Uhura looks fantastic! Am I collecting a large amount of Star Trek and Star Wars shirts? Yes. Am I complaining? Never. I love this mystery shipment. It’s consistent quality and a nice price.

Box Review: Geek Fuel – November 2016

Geek Fuel

Geek Fuel is a monthly subscription box “filled with t-shirts, toys, digital games, limited edition collectibles, and all things epic.” The box can be purchased on a monthly renewal at $23.90 per month, or discounts for purchasing several months or more upfront.

Geek Fuel

The box comes with a great mini magazine that’s always fun to flip through.

Geek Fuel

There is now a spoiler card listing all the items in the box.

Geek Fuel

Wonder Woman and Batman Mugs – These are a little small for my use. But they’ll make great stocking stuffers for my superhero-living niece and nephew.

Geek Fuel

Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy “Pair and a Spare” Socks – These are cute Rocket socks with one spare mix and match Groot sock. I don’t like the idea of three socks as one will wear out faster than the others. It’d be better to have 2 complete sets of mix and match socks.

Geek Fuel

Geek Fuel Temple Pin – Does anyone actually collect all these filler pins that ALL these mystery geek boxes seem to have? I’ve tossed more than I can count.

Downloadable Dandy Game – I don’t play these types of games, so I’ll probably see if someone else wants it.

Geek Fuel

Futurama Tshirt – I have zero desire to ever watch an adult cartoon, let alone Futurama. So, this is a bummer. I don’t know a soul in real life who actually watches the show (or would admit it) either. Another for the donate pile.

Summary: Thankfully, I had a coupon code and got this box for a big discount. Maybe if I had liked the shirt, this wouldn’t have seemed like such a letdown. But I don’t think I’m keeping ANYTHING from this box. A couple things will be re-gifted and the rest tossed or donated. Bummer.
