Box Review: Bam Box – April (Shipped in May) 2017

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. We love the thrill of it, the mystery of it and especially that feeling you get when you have a collectible in your hands that you are really excited about. So we set out to bring something different to everyone.

There are some great subscription boxes on the market, but we felt there was still something missing. We went to the drawing board with the goal of creating the box we would want to show up on our doorstep. After a lot of ideas and prototypes we arrived at the Bam Box. From the design of the box to the items inside to the instant winners we send out, we accomplished what we wanted to do: give you the subscription box we would be jealous of.”

Cost: 1 month plan starts at $24.99 plus $7.99 s/h

Bam Box - April 2017

Instead of the mini mag this month, there was a sheet with the items in the box with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “Revenge: Bad Blood.”

Bam Box - April/May 2017

Sgt. Kabukiman Pin – This is Bam Box’s first licensed pin. But I have no idea who it is and never heard of the film it’s from. But I don’t care about pins anyway.

Bam Box - April 2017

The Punisher Print – This is a signed print and licensed by Marvel. I really like this one.

Bam Box - April 2017

Sabertooth Photo signed by Actor Tyler Mane – As a huge fan of the first 3 X-Men movies, this was a nice surprise.

Bam Box - April 2017

Baba Yaga Bullet Bottle Opener – I didn’t remember what this was from until I read the description, but I love the John Wick films. So this was another fun item.

Summary:
This box was delayed a month because of some item held up in customs I believe. Unfortunately, though I liked all items but the pin, it seems like a really sparse box for the wait. Two prints, a bottle opener, and a filler pin didn’t even need a box. But the paper said that the June box will include a bonus item for April subscribers to make up for the long wait.

Next month’s theme is… Defend: Space Edition.

Box Review: Marvel Collector Corps – April 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Marvel Collector Corps

This is the April 2017 box from Collector Corps, and the theme was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

The Marvel Collector Corps offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

Marvel Collector Corps

Each box comes with an exclusive badge and pin.

Marvel Collector Corps

And a card detailing the contents of the box with a look at early concepts.

Marvel Collector Corps

Guardians 2 Tshirt – Not happy that it’s yet another black tee. And I’m not a fan of the POP-style shirts. And I don’t care for the two-toned look. So, I’ll be giving this to my niece.

Marvel Collector Corps

Secret Empire Comic – Cute variant!

Marvel Collector Corps

Star-Lord and Milano Dorbz Ride – While it’s cool that this is the first ever Dorbz ride, I would’ve preferred another POP instead.

Marvel Collector Corps

Rocket and Groot Funko POP Set – I REALLY wish we would’ve gotten a new character in this box. The last Guardians box included these 2, so it was quite a disappointment. I would have loved a variant of ANY other character. I already have too many variants of these guys.

Summary:
While the dual POP is cute, the rest of the box was a disappointment. Especially, considering this is my favorite Marvel series right now.

The next theme will be… Spider-Man: Homecoming!

TeeBlox

Doctor Who Shirt – I’m not a fan of the show, but I do like the fun Dalek design. And the gray, charcoal color is nice.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Generation X Comic and cardboard Super Mario Bros Coaster. I have all of this run of Generation X, but I’m a big fan so that’s ok. I’ve gotten a similar coaster in a previous bag.

There is also a instructions on how to frame a favorite shirt. This is a fun idea, if you have a unique design you want to keep on display.

Summary: This is the first shirt I’ve received that hasn’t either been Star Wars or Star Trek. I don’t like Dr. Who, but I do appreciate variety. And I have family members who do enjoy the show who I can pass this on to. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further. And the bonus comic is always fun too.

Box Review: Bam Box – March 2017

Bam Box

The box has a mini mag called “Spoiler Booklet” with details on the box, with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “Indestructible.”

Bam Box

“Indestructible Heroes” Parody Pin – There were 4 options that subscribers could receive – Superman (above), Hulk, or 2 limited edition Chuck Norris.

Bam Box

Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade – The other option was a Captain America shield. While I’m a little bummed, this hidden blade replica is actually a much cooler, intricate design.

Bam Box

Bionic Woman – Lindsay Wagner Signed Photo – This is just awesome. I was definitely a fan of this and Wonder Woman as a child.

Bam Box

“Old Cat Logan” Print – This is pretty funny. It’d make a fun gag gift for a Wolverine fan.

Bam Box

Vampirella #1 Signed Comic – I’ll definitely be selling this, as I’m not a fan… to say the least.

Summary:
Despite the comic, I thought this was a solid box of great picks. I love the unique items – like the Incredibuilds’ Assassin’s Creed model and signed pic of Lindsay Wagner.

Next month’s theme is… Revenge: Bad Blood.

Box Review: Smuggler’s Bounty – March 2017

Smuggler's Bounty

“Star Wars and Funko are proud to present Smuggler’s Bounty, the only OFFICAL Star Wars subscription box in the galaxy! Each box will focus on a different part of the Star Wars universe and include memorabilia exclusive to the program, perfect for any Star Wars fan.”

The theme this month was REBELS!

Smuggler's Bounty

Patch and Pin – these are small collectibles included in each box.

Smuggler's Bounty

The box comes with a handy card detailing the items included.

Smuggler's Bounty

Star Wars Rebels Tshirt – ANOTHER black tshirt. But the I do like the vibrant colors. Though the characters were already cartoons, and they’re barely recognizable as POPs.

Smuggler's Bounty

EXCLUSIVE Chopper Mini Hikari – I could have done without this sparkly figure. There was a possibility of 5 different colors, but I just don’t like Hikaris, so I won’t be holding onto it.

Smuggler's Bounty

EXCLUSIVE Captain Rex Funko POP – This is pretty basic, but I like that he’s holding guns in both hands.

EXCLUSIVE Darth Maul Funko POP – This one is awesome. The detail and design is great – and I don’t have a Darth Maul POP yet.

Summary:
I love boxes with 2 POPs! It means I’ll at least love one of them. I do watch Rebels, though only recently – so I at least know most of the characters. I’m sure it will be a struggle to come up with different themes for this box after a while.

Next box theme…. 40th Anniversary!

TeeBlox

Star Trek Shirt – This is a large, classic Star Trek font and symbol on a navy shirt. I like the shiny gold look. I’ll definitely wear this one.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Star Wars: Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan Comic and Spider-Man pin. The comic is 2 of 3, but still happy to give it a try.

Summary: This is another great shirt design and unique comic. And the shirts are always nice quality. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further.

Box Review: DC’s Legion of Collectors – March 2017

FullSizeRender.jpg_3

This month’s theme for DC’s Legion of Collectors was Superman. The Legion of Collectors offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

Legion of Collectors

Like the other mystery boxes from Funko, each box comes with an exclusive badge and pin.

FullSizeRender.jpg_6

And this detailed card of everything included in the box is handy.

IMG_3665

Superman Tshirt – I really like the color of this shirt, but would have preferred it not be a Funko POP character.

FullSizeRender.jpg_4

Superman Comic #1 – I LOVE that they include comic variants in these boxes. And I only read ecopies of graphic novels of the DC lines, so it’s nice to get hardcopies.

FullSizeRender.jpg_2

Superman Pocket POP and Superman Retro Action Figure – This were a nice addition. I would of course have preferred an extra Funko POP, but this retro Superman will go great with my retro Wonder Woman from a past box.

FullSizeRender

EXCLUSIVE Classic Superman Funko POP! – I really love this design!

SUMMARY: This was a really fun box. Superman is probably my all-time favorite superhero. My mind reels with what could have been done with this box to take it over the top awesome. But the DC box has yet to do that. Hopefully with next month’s box, they’ll do something more unexpected.

The next theme is: Wonder Woman!

Stuff I Get: The Man in the High Castle Promo

Man in the High Castle Promo

Man in the High Castle Promo

Courtesy of Amazon Prime, this curious box arrived the other day.

Man in the High Castle Promo

RESISTANCE RADIO has arrived. This is a new way of storytelling based on the Amazon Prime show – The Man in the High Castle.

Based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott, and Frank Spotnitz, The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States.

Man in the High Castle Promo

Among the material was a record. Which I though was strange, as most people don’t own records any longer. Until I saw the cool build-your-own record player kit made from paper and a needle! I’m definitely trying this out.

The Man in the High Castle Promo

But in the box was a briefcase that opened to an electric record player as well!
This was a fun and well-thought out promo for the new RESISTANCE RADIO from The Man in the High Castle.
