Box Review: Bam Box – November 2017

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. We love the thrill of it, the mystery of it and especially that feeling you get when you have a collectible in your hands that you are really excited about. So we set out to bring something different to everyone.

There are some great subscription boxes on the market, but we felt there was still something missing. We went to the drawing board with the goal of creating the box we would want to show up on our doorstep. After a lot of ideas and prototypes we arrived at the Bam Box. From the design of the box to the items inside to the instant winners we send out, we accomplished what we wanted to do: give you the subscription box we would be jealous of.”

Cost: 1 month plan starts at $24.99 plus $7.99 s/h

There was no mini mag this month, so I have no clue what some of this is… EDIT: I went to their Facebook page, and found a link to their booklet online: http://www.thebambox.com/novbamoriginal

Bam Box

Terminator Pin and Transformers Patch

Bam Box
Bam Box

Iron Coin of the Faceless Man– I had no clue what this was without the link. I thought maybe it was Assassin’s Creed.

Bam Box

Hopper’s Badge – I’m a fan of Stranger Things, so I knew this one – even without the nice description on the box cover. It’s heavy and solid – feels like the real thing!

Bam Box

Dianne Pershing Signed Poison Ivy Print – This is a signed print by the voice of Poison Ivy from the Batman Animated series.. that I don’t watch. Other than knowing the print is of Poison Ivy, I had to look at the magazine link to find out who signed it and why.

Bam Box

Carnage Art Print – I’m not a big carnage fan, so this didn’t do anything for me.

Summary:
I also had a random plastic piece in my box that doesn’t seem to go to anything. Looks like it was supposed to be a display for something. The missing booklet was a disappointment, as other folks, like me, will be confused about several items. I saw several comments on the Facebook posts about missing items as well. Hopefully, next month’s box they can take their time and make sure everything is finished. The badge was an awesome piece, but the rest of the box was a bust for me.

TeeBlox

Star Wars Shirt – This is the first long sleeved shirt I’ve received! I’m excited, since it’s winter and I’d only wear long sleeves here in Indiana. And it’s a great design, with not only a graphic on the front, but down both sleeves as well!

TeeBlox

Sticker and Pin – I have no clue what this sticker is. And I’ve received the same pin many times now. But it’s just filler, so no biggie.

Summary: I feel like the value went up with a long sleeved tee. It’s definitely something I’ll wear in the colder months. This was a great surprise.

Bam Box

The box comes with a nice mini mag, describing all of the included items.

Bam Box

Buffy Pin and Fringe Patch

Bam Box

Signed Gremlins Photo – These are signed by actor Zach Galligan who played Billy in the classic film.

Bam Box

Grimm Key Map Replica – I was a huge fan of the show, so this was a very fun item that I recognized right away.

Bam Box

Edward Scissorhands Art Print – This is a stunningly life-like print of another classic.

Bam Box

Evil Dead License Plate Replica – I have never watched Evil Dead. And there’s nothing notable about the plate options. It’s a fun prop replica, but these choices just aren’t as recognizable as more well-known tv and films.

Summary:
Last month set the bar high, so this month wasn’t as great for me. I do like prop replicas, so the Grimm Key Map was great. And it was fun to see the signed Gremlins photo. But I doubt I’ll be keeping anything else in the box. There wasn’t a specific theme this month, but all the classic and well-known horror/fantasy did tie-in for Halloween which was very appropriate!

Bam Box

Dr Who T-Shirt – I’m not a Dr Who fan, so this collection of Doctors are a miss for me. And of course, it’s another black tee.

Bam Box

Comic and Pin – I love the retro comics. Tho I’ve gotten this pin several times before.

Summary: This month was a miss for me, but it is nice to see some variety in the genre. As much as I love all the Star Trek and Star Wars shirts, I don’t mind seeing others as well!

Box Review: Marvel Collector Corps – October 2017 – Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel Collector Corps

This is the April 2017 box from Collector Corps, and the theme was Thor: Ragnarok.

The Marvel Collector Corps offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

Marvel Collector Corps

Each box comes with an exclusive pin. No badge this time, but there was a set of Thor playing cards.

Marvel Collector Corps

And a card detailing the contents of the box with a look at early concepts.

Marvel Collector Corps

Thor Magnets – These are cute character magnets.

Marvel Collector Corps

Hulk Beanie – This is a really cool looking beanie. My nephew will love it.

Thor Character Fidget Spinner – I would’ve been fine never owning a spinner, but I have to admit that all the character faces on front and back are fun.

Marvel Collector Corps

EXCLUSIVE Loki Funko POP! – I have another version of Loki with the head piece, but this one has him holding two blue daggers.

Marvel Collector Corps

EXCLUSIVE Thor Funko POP! – This is a really cool variant from the film – straight from the arena scene! There was a floating piece (in the bottom right corner) that I’m still not sure where it came from or if it was just a mistake. It looks like a small blue gun with a gold handle. I have a message off to customer service to see what it is.

Summary:
I was a little nervous seeing that the box was much smaller this month. However, it was just packed full. And any month with a double Funko POP is awesome. But I do miss the comic. Not so much the patch, as I have enough of those now to last a lifetime.

The next theme will be… Hulk!

Bam Box

The box comes with a nice mini mag, describing all of the included items.

Bam Box

Space Ghost Pin and Watchmen Patch

Bam Box

Signed BB-8 Photo – These are signed by actor Brian Herring who worked as the droid performer in the recent film. It’s a very cool image that I’ll probably keep and display.

Bam Box

Goonies Doubloon – I wonder if One-Eyed Willy cursed this?

Bam Box

Defenders Art Print – I’m a fan of the Netflix show and love these characters. I received a rare, 1-up version in black and white. But it’s a shame as the color version looked cooler.

Bam Box Bam Box

Deadpool Replica Mask – Just in time for Halloween! Fans of the wise-cracking anti-hero will love this spot-on Deadpool mask.

Summary:
Besides the pin and patch filler, I think I’m keeping all the items in this box – which rarely happens! I really like both of the prints – especially BB-8. And the Goonies Doubloon and Deadpool mask replicas were the highlights for sure. This was probably one of my favorite boxes from Bam Box so far!

Teeblox

Back to the Future Shirt – I love Back to the Future, and I love this design. My biggest reservation is that there’s a note to hang dry rather than tumble dry. So, it’s obviously not pre-shrunk. If it’s too wrinkled, I still may toss it in my dryer on low.

Teeblox

Comic and Pin – The Sheena comic will be passed on. And I think I’ve gotten this pin before.

Summary: I like that this month’s shirt was Back to the Future and incorporating both the catchy phrase and the DeLorean. It’s not soft or pre-shrunk though.

Box Review: Smuggler’s Bounty – September 2017

Smuggler's Bounty

“Star Wars and Funko are proud to present Smuggler’s Bounty, the only OFFICAL Star Wars subscription box in the galaxy! Featuring 100% exclusive collectibles, apparel and accessories from the Star Wars universe, each box is carefully curated for Star Wars fans and shipped directly to your doorstep. Each box will focus on a different part of the Star Wars universe and include memorabilia exclusive to the program, perfect for any Star Wars fan.”

The theme this month was Jedi!

Smuggler's Bounty

Patch and Pin – these are small collectibles included in each box.

Again this month, there was no card detailing the items included.

Smuggler's Bounty

Star Wars Young Luke Skywalker Tshirt – Yet another black tee. And it’s not a great rendering of Luke.

Smuggler's Bounty

Plush Yoda – This is really cute. I don’t collect the plush dolls, but they are cute!

Smuggler's Bounty

EXCLUSIVE Obi-Wan Kenobi – I only have an older Obi-Wan, so this younger version is nice.

EXCLUSIVE Aayla Secura – Here’s a more obscure Jedi from the prequel films. I don’t care for those, so I barely remember her. But it’s still fun to have a different looking POP, instead of all humans.

Summary:
I still miss the detail card about the items included. This was another great 2 Funko POPs in a box month! Both characters were from the prequel films that I didn’t care for. But there were way more Jedi’s to choose from in those films!
