Box Review: Bam Box – January 2018

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. We love the thrill of it, the mystery of it and especially that feeling you get when you have a collectible in your hands that you are really excited about. So we set out to bring something different to everyone.

There are some great subscription boxes on the market, but we felt there was still something missing. We went to the drawing board with the goal of creating the box we would want to show up on our doorstep. After a lot of ideas and prototypes we arrived at the Bam Box. From the design of the box to the items inside to the instant winners we send out, we accomplished what we wanted to do: give you the subscription box we would be jealous of.”

Cost: 1 month plan starts at $24.99 plus $7.99 s/h

This is the 2 Year Anniversary box! And we’re back to having a page of what’s included in the box – which was missing in the past couple boxes!

Walking Dead Pin and Hand of the King Replica Pin The Game of Thrones pin/broach (for those few who, like me, don’t watch Game of Thrones and didn’t know what this was referring to) is a heavy, well-made replica. Just wish I cared about the series.

Two-Face Coin – Batman’s nemesis Two-Face uses a coin like this to make decisions. I knew right away what this was supposed to be!

IMG_7274

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Signed Print – This was one of four possibilities of supporting cast members, or an even rarer one of all four signatures on one print.

Bam Box

Stranger Things Art Print – I received a 1-Up variant of this print! I’m a fan of Stranger Things, so this was really cool.

Summary:
I’m so glad we’re back to a page of item descriptions! Though, it could stand to be a little more informative. The two collectibles (I never count the small, filler pins) are very small but well-done. And I appreciate the variety of franchises that are represented. You won’t find these items in any other mystery box.

NEXT MONTH: There will be items from: X-Files, Black Panther, Ghostbusters, Smallville, and Terminator! Wow!

Star Wars Shirt – You can never have too many Star Wars shirts, right?

Summary: I was happy to see a gray shirt. I really like the color! There wasn’t any pins or sticker fillers this month, but that’s okay as they’re just fillers.

Again, there was no mini mag this month, so I had to search again for a link to the description sheet: http://www.thebambox.com/decspoilersheet
If they’re going to continue to do this, they really need to put a card in the box providing the link.

Bam Box

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Pin and Nightmare Before Christmas Bill

Bam Box

Supernatural Dean’s Amulet – Prop replicas are a fun addition. And there is a cult following for this show, so I’m sure there will be many happy fans.

Bam Box

A Christmas Story Mini Leg Lamp Kit – I don’t want to open this, because it’ll make a great White Elephant gift next Christmas!

Bam Box
Bam Box

Deep Roy Signed Willy Wonka Print – Thankfully, the back says who signed it.

Bam Box

Christmas Deadpool Art Print – There were several variants available as 1-ups for this.

Summary:
The ebooklet that you have to go searching for was a big disappointment again. The only think I’ll be keeping is the Leg Lamp Kit as a gag gift. The others are misses for me.

Tee Blox

Star Wars Shirt – You can never have too many Star Wars shirts, right?

Tee Blox

Pins – I’ve received the same pins many times now. But it’s just filler, so no biggie.

Summary: Though the shirt was black once again, it’s still a nice design.

There was no mini mag this month, so I have no clue what some of this is… EDIT: I went to their Facebook page, and found a link to their booklet online: http://www.thebambox.com/novbamoriginal

Bam Box

Terminator Pin and Transformers Patch

Bam Box
Bam Box

Iron Coin of the Faceless Man– I had no clue what this was without the link. I thought maybe it was Assassin’s Creed.

Bam Box

Hopper’s Badge – I’m a fan of Stranger Things, so I knew this one – even without the nice description on the box cover. It’s heavy and solid – feels like the real thing!

Bam Box

Dianne Pershing Signed Poison Ivy Print – This is a signed print by the voice of Poison Ivy from the Batman Animated series.. that I don’t watch. Other than knowing the print is of Poison Ivy, I had to look at the magazine link to find out who signed it and why.

Bam Box

Carnage Art Print – I’m not a big carnage fan, so this didn’t do anything for me.

Summary:
I also had a random plastic piece in my box that doesn’t seem to go to anything. Looks like it was supposed to be a display for something. The missing booklet was a disappointment, as other folks, like me, will be confused about several items. I saw several comments on the Facebook posts about missing items as well. Hopefully, next month’s box they can take their time and make sure everything is finished. The badge was an awesome piece, but the rest of the box was a bust for me.

TeeBlox

Star Wars Shirt – This is the first long sleeved shirt I’ve received! I’m excited, since it’s winter and I’d only wear long sleeves here in Indiana. And it’s a great design, with not only a graphic on the front, but down both sleeves as well!

TeeBlox

Sticker and Pin – I have no clue what this sticker is. And I’ve received the same pin many times now. But it’s just filler, so no biggie.

Summary: I feel like the value went up with a long sleeved tee. It’s definitely something I’ll wear in the colder months. This was a great surprise.

Bam Box

The box comes with a nice mini mag, describing all of the included items.

Bam Box

Buffy Pin and Fringe Patch

Bam Box

Signed Gremlins Photo – These are signed by actor Zach Galligan who played Billy in the classic film.

Bam Box

Grimm Key Map Replica – I was a huge fan of the show, so this was a very fun item that I recognized right away.

Bam Box

Edward Scissorhands Art Print – This is a stunningly life-like print of another classic.

Bam Box

Evil Dead License Plate Replica – I have never watched Evil Dead. And there’s nothing notable about the plate options. It’s a fun prop replica, but these choices just aren’t as recognizable as more well-known tv and films.

Summary:
Last month set the bar high, so this month wasn’t as great for me. I do like prop replicas, so the Grimm Key Map was great. And it was fun to see the signed Gremlins photo. But I doubt I’ll be keeping anything else in the box. There wasn’t a specific theme this month, but all the classic and well-known horror/fantasy did tie-in for Halloween which was very appropriate!
