Each box will focus on a different part of the Star Wars universe and include memorabilia exclusive to the program, perfect for any Star Wars fan.”

The theme this month was REBELS!

Smuggler's Bounty

Patch and Pin – these are small collectibles included in each box.

Smuggler's Bounty

The box comes with a handy card detailing the items included.

Smuggler's Bounty

Star Wars Rebels Tshirt – ANOTHER black tshirt. But the I do like the vibrant colors. Though the characters were already cartoons, and they’re barely recognizable as POPs.

Smuggler's Bounty

EXCLUSIVE Chopper Mini Hikari – I could have done without this sparkly figure. There was a possibility of 5 different colors, but I just don’t like Hikaris, so I won’t be holding onto it.

Smuggler's Bounty

EXCLUSIVE Captain Rex Funko POP – This is pretty basic, but I like that he’s holding guns in both hands.

EXCLUSIVE Darth Maul Funko POP – This one is awesome. The detail and design is great – and I don’t have a Darth Maul POP yet.

Summary:
I love boxes with 2 POPs! It means I’ll at least love one of them. I do watch Rebels, though only recently – so I at least know most of the characters. I’m sure it will be a struggle to come up with different themes for this box after a while.

Next box theme…. 40th Anniversary!

TeeBlox

Star Trek Shirt – This is a large, classic Star Trek font and symbol on a navy shirt. I like the shiny gold look. I’ll definitely wear this one.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Star Wars: Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan Comic and Spider-Man pin. The comic is 2 of 3, but still happy to give it a try.

Summary: This is another great shirt design and unique comic. And the shirts are always nice quality. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further.

Box Review: DC’s Legion of Collectors – March 2017

FullSizeRender.jpg_3

This month’s theme for DC’s Legion of Collectors was Superman. The Legion of Collectors offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

Legion of Collectors

Like the other mystery boxes from Funko, each box comes with an exclusive badge and pin.

And this detailed card of everything included in the box is handy.

IMG_3665

Superman Tshirt – I really like the color of this shirt, but would have preferred it not be a Funko POP character.

FullSizeRender.jpg_4

Superman Comic #1 – I LOVE that they include comic variants in these boxes. And I only read ecopies of graphic novels of the DC lines, so it’s nice to get hardcopies.

FullSizeRender.jpg_2

Superman Pocket POP and Superman Retro Action Figure – This were a nice addition. I would of course have preferred an extra Funko POP, but this retro Superman will go great with my retro Wonder Woman from a past box.

FullSizeRender

EXCLUSIVE Classic Superman Funko POP! – I really love this design!

SUMMARY: This was a really fun box. Superman is probably my all-time favorite superhero. My mind reels with what could have been done with this box to take it over the top awesome. But the DC box has yet to do that. Hopefully with next month’s box, they’ll do something more unexpected.

The next theme is: Wonder Woman!

Stuff I Get: The Man in the High Castle Promo

Man in the High Castle Promo

Man in the High Castle Promo

Courtesy of Amazon Prime, this curious box arrived the other day.

Man in the High Castle Promo

RESISTANCE RADIO has arrived. This is a new way of storytelling based on the Amazon Prime show – The Man in the High Castle.

Based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott, and Frank Spotnitz, The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States.

Man in the High Castle Promo

Among the material was a record. Which I though was strange, as most people don’t own records any longer. Until I saw the cool build-your-own record player kit made from paper and a needle! I’m definitely trying this out.

The Man in the High Castle Promo

But in the box was a briefcase that opened to an electric record player as well!
This was a fun and well-thought out promo for the new RESISTANCE RADIO from The Man in the High Castle.

Box Review: Bam Box – February 2017

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. We love the thrill of it, the mystery of it and especially that feeling you get when you have a collectible in your hands that you are really excited about. So we set out to bring something different to everyone.

There are some great subscription boxes on the market, but we felt there was still something missing. We went to the drawing board with the goal of creating the box we would want to show up on our doorstep. After a lot of ideas and prototypes we arrived at the Bam Box. From the design of the box to the items inside to the instant winners we send out, we accomplished what we wanted to do: give you the subscription box we would be jealous of.”

Cost: 1 month plan starts at $24.99 plus $7.99 s/h

*SciFiChick.com received a box for review purposes.

Bam Box

The box has a mini mag called “Spoiler Booklet” with details on the box, with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “90s.”

Bam Box

“Squirt Gun” Parody Pin – There were 4 options that subscribers could receive.

Bam Box

Beanie Baby – Subscribers had the chance of getting common or rare ones. I have no idea what’s rare, so I guess I’d have to look it up.

Bam Box

Celebrity Fight Match Poster: AC Slater vs Zach Morris – There were other 90s options of these as well. All are numbered and signed. These would be funny as a gag gift, but I don’t know anyone who would put these up.

Bam Box

“No Soup For You” Spoon – I saw the Soup Nazi signing autographs at a convention once. This is pretty funny.

Bam Box

Matt Doherty Signed Hockey Puck – The Mighty Ducks was an iconic 90s movie for all ages. And Les Averman from the film has signed official sized hockey pucks for the box.

Summary:
I was a teen in the 90s, so I love reminiscing from the decade. While I never collected Beanie Babies, I knew plenty who did! And the signed hockey puck and soup spoon were very unique and creative items. This box was a lot of fun.

Next month’s theme is… Indestructible.

Box Review: Marvel Collector Corps – February 2017 – Super Hero Showdowns

IMG_3596

This is the February 2017 box from Collector Corps, and the theme was Super Hero Showdowns.

The Marvel Collector Corps offers these boxes starting at $25 plus s/h.

IMG_3597

Each box comes with an exclusive badge and pin.

IMG_3599

And a card detailing the contents of the box with a look at early concepts.

IMG_3604

Spidey vs. Green Goblin Tshirt – I like the color of blue on the shirt. And as always, it’s a nice, soft quality. The design is fun too despite being POP-looking characters.

Marvel Collector Corps

Inhumans vs. X-Men Comic – With Wolverine vs Sabertooth on the cover, I can’t wait to check this one out.

IMG_3603

Captain America AND Red Skull Pint Size Heroes – These little characters are making thier debut. Though Funko already has enough small figure lines like this, so I’m not crazy about a whole other figure line that aren’t super unique. I’ll probably pass these on to my niece or nephew.

IMG_3601

Bullseye vs. Daredevil 2-Pack Funko POP Set – I don’t like Daredevil’s black suit instead of the traditional red, but otherwise this is a cool set. I always love when 2 POPs are included instead of just one.

Summary:
This is a great box with plenty of fun stuff to unbox. I like the variety and unique new POPs!

The next theme will be… Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2!

TeeBlox

Star Wars Shirt – This is an iconic scene of Luke vs. Vader that I love. I’m not excited it’s another black shirt, but the silhouette does look cool.

TeeBlox

Comic and Pin – Squadron Sinister Comic and Captain America pin. It’s more of an obscure team with characters I’ve never heard of, but I’ll try it out.

Summary: This is another great shirt design and different comic. And the shirts are always nice quality. If you need to replenish your geek wardrobe with nice quality tees, look no further.

Box Review: Bam ANNIVERSARY Box – January 2017

Bam Box

The Bam Box was founded in 2015 by Bloof, the same team of geeks, comic book lovers and pop culture collectors that started ComiconAuction.com. We love collecting. Bam Box

The box has a mini mag called “Spoiler Booklet” with details on the box, with all possible items subscribers could receive.
This month’s theme was “Anniversary.”

pin

“Stranger Things” Parody Pin – There were 4 options that subscribers could receive. Unfortunately, they should have provided Bam Anniversary pins to all subscribers to celebrate. I’m not a pin collector, but it seems like a missed opportunity.

Bam Box

Battle Bros Print – It doesn’t do anything for me.

Bam Box

Custom, Signed Jason Mask – I’m not a horror fan, so another Jason mask was a disappointment as we already received one several months ago.

Bam Box

One-of-a-Kind Animation Cel: Ghostbusters – This was pretty cool. I loved the Ghostbusters cartoon as a kid.

Bam Box

Full-size License Plate from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – Other options were from Anchorman 2 (which I don’t think I ever watched) and Knight Rider (which would’ve been awesome). I would have loved the Knight Rider plate. And while I love Ferris Bueller, I’m not sure anyone would recognize the license plate.

Summary: This month’s anniversary box was a look back at several popular items from boxes this past year. I liked the unique animation cels idea in this box! And license plates are fun collector’s items. It would have been nice to include something different than a duplicate Jason mask – a different prop replica would’ve been nice.

Next month’s theme is… 90’s!
