13 Great Star Trek IV Quotes

13 Great Quotes from the wittiest Trek movie, Star Trek IV – The Voyage Home:

1. [after landing and cloaking a Klingon spaceship in Golden Gate Park]
Kirk: Everybody remember where we parked.

2. [Explaining Spock’s odd behavior]
Kirk: Oh, him? He’s harmless. Part of the free speech movement at Berkeley in the sixties. I think he did a little too much LDS.

Lost Calling

Since Tuesday night is a slow TV night, I just read all evening. I finished up Lost Calling, by Evelyn Vaughn. This is the first in the Madonna Key series and falls into the category of romantic suspense.

Catrina Dauvergne is a museum curator who finds herself in the midst of an earthquake in Paris, France. When she falls into a fissure, she discovers special artifacts among bones dating back 200 years. When she touches the artifacts, she has visions of the women who owned the pieces when they were alive.

Letter Meme

Dolce Bellezza passed along a fun meme. The idea is to be given a letter, hers was “D”, and then post ten things you like beginning with that letter. At the end of the post, she said she would give interested readers a letter of their own. I landed the letter “S”.

So, here are 10 things beginning with the letter S that I like:

1. Science Fiction – Hence, my moniker. It all started when I saw Star Wars for the first time when I was only 2 years old. If my parents only knew…
2. Sketching – Otherwise, I would have never majored in Art in college. I’ve always loved drawing. But in 6th grade, I drew my first portrait. It was of Spock out of a TV Guide. And I realized it wasn’t half bad. Thus, began my love of drawing faces. All because of Star Trek!

Dresden and Josh

The Dresden Files series premier was last night. And I, for one, was not disappointed. The actors are well-cast, particularly Paul Blackthorne as Harry Dresden and Terrence Mann as Bob the skull. They play really well off of each other. For those that missed it last night, the SciFi Channel will be airing the pilot again today and tomorrow.

DC Thursday Thirteen

Since I did a Marvel Thursday 13, time to do DC.

Here are 13 of my favorite DC Heroes:

1. Superman – Of course the most famous superhero of all time. The eternal Boy Scout has to be my favorite simply because with all of his power, he feels compelled to do good simply because it’s right. No hidden motives or agenda. His morals hold true.

Superman is born Kal-El on the alien planet Krypton, and is rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist father moments before the planet’s destruction. The rocket lands on Earth, where the child is found by passing motorists who adopt him and give him the name Clark Kent. As Clark reaches maturity, he learns that he has superhuman abilities, which he resolves to use to help others, fighting anything from petty crime to universal threats. To keep his identity secret when not fighting evil as Superman, Clark lives among humans as a “mild-mannered reporter” for the Metropolis newspaper The Daily Planet. Clark works alongside reporter Lois Lane, with whom he is romantically involved (and whom he marries in the current mainstream comics continuity).

Ghost Rider News

From Sci Fi Wire:

Ghost Not Quite Ready Yet

Mark Steven Johnson, director of the upcoming Ghost Rider, told SCI FI Wire that he’s still working on the film’s visual effects and editing with only one month to go before its Feb. 14 release. “I literally came from the Sony mixing stage, but I wanted to give a good introduction to the fans,” Johnson said at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention in Los Angeles on Jan. 14.
