Dresden and Josh

The Dresden Files series premier was last night. And I, for one, was not disappointed. The actors are well-cast, particularly Paul Blackthorne as Harry Dresden and Terrence Mann as Bob the skull. They play really well off of each other. For those that missed it last night, the SciFi Channel will be airing the pilot again today and tomorrow.

And for my old classmates that read this blog:

My mother called me Thursday night to tell me that Josh Buck was in an accident. I quickly called a couple friends from school and our pastor to let them know and have been praying ever since.

He was in Cancun with his wife, Shelly, and some friends. While swimming in the ocean, he hit his head and had to be rescued by a lifeguard. He was lifelined to Miami where he recently underwent surgery to replace his 5th vertebrae with a metal piece. There is only a 5% chance that he’ll regain the use of his legs. This week we’ll be waiting to see how much strength he regains.

Please join me in praying for him!

  1. How horrible for your friend! I hope the doctors are able to help him. I’m not normally one for prayers, but I’ll say a little on for him just in case it tips the balance.

I didn’t see the Dresden Files last night (too busy watching the Patriots lose). I’ll have to check Space to see when they are airing it again.

  2. Okay…. I read this going what the heck Dresden Files? Intrigued I went to the website you made a link to with the summary of the show.

Its sounds really cool. I’ll be watching it… if I make it till then. In Toronto it’s playing at 3am on our Sci-Fi channel 55 – I don’t know what time or channel that is on your side of the neighborhood Christine. 🙂 I hope it’s earlier than 3!

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. That’s terrible. I’ll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. Thanks, Vicky! It’s scheduled to air regularly on Sunday nights, so hopefully Canada will be airing it at a decent time next Sunday. 3am is rediculous! Hope you have a VCR or DVR!

  4. I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I had a friend years ago who also had a freak accident and ended up in a wheelchair. I hope your friend regains use of his legs, but I know from experience he can still live a full life anyway. But the adjustment is really hard, so he’s lucky to have good friends.

The more I think about the Dresden Files, the more I like it. Last night when I wrote the review, at 11:00, I think I was trying to find something to nit pick. But they did a pretty good job and I look forward to the future episodes.

  5. I’m sorry to hear about your friend.

Dresden Files was pretty good! I like Paul Blackthorne as Harry too. He was in 24 but I can’t place him (possibly because it was one of the many episodes I missed of 24). I was a little surprised to see Bob as person looking ghost and not a skull, but it works much better that way on the show and besides, Terrence Mann is not bad to look at (and listen too.)

  6. I am so sorry about your friend. He’s in my thoughts and prayers, I’ll send word to my friend at work who organizes her church’s prayer group.

Love that name Bob the Skull.

  7. So sorry about your friend. I’ll keep him in my prayers. We had a local fellow who actually died that way, as his friends didn’t realize he was injured and he drowned (he was a friend of my eldest son’s), so I’ll also send a prayer of thanks that he survived.

  8. Thanks, Amy. It\’s amazing that friends all over the US know about his situation and are praying for him. Guess we can add Canada too!

Nancy – That could have happened to Josh. His friends just thought he was fooling around! If the lifeguard wouldn\’t have seen him in time, he would have drown in another mintute or so.

    Amy – I definitely will. I haven\’t heard anything yet…

  9. Hey Angela,
Glad there are postings for Josh going all over the world. I have friends praying even from Ecuador! Our God is good! Thanks for posting this on your site. It’s been awesome to see how God has used technology to shower Josh with our prayers. We are praying continually.

  10. I really did enjoy the premier also. It kind of made me want to go and read the books as well since I was meeting all of these characters for the first time. I’m sure the books would give me a better understanding.
