1. Eragon, by Christopher Paolini – my review
2. Traitor to the Blood, by Barb & JC Hendee – my review
3. Rogue Angel: Destiny, by “Alex Archer”

5. X-Men: Dark Mirror, by Marjorie M. Liu
6. Runaways Vol. 5: Escape to New York
7. California Demon: The Secret Life of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, by Julie Kenner

10. Not a Girl Detective, by Susan Kandel
11. Map of Bones, by James Rollins
12. The Spy Who Loved Me, by Ian Fleming – my review
13. The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel, by Diane Setterfield – my review
3.A. reminded me that I left off Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! – I had forgotten this came out just this past July. Push this to #3, and move everything down.

Your Planet or Mine?, by Susan Grant
Agents of Light and Darkness and Nightingale’s Lament, by Simon R. Green
Undead and Unpopular, by MJ Davidson
The Artifact , by Kevin J Anderson
The Legend of Banzai Maguire, by Susan Grant
I’m going to be getting some of the Rogue Angel books as soon as I get paid. These sound right up my alley!
I love book lists! There are a few titles I’ll have to check out. Do you know LibraryThing? I blogged about it yesterday and I love it.
My TT is about the year 2007.
Yup, Eragon was awesome. I’m just now finishing up Eldest. I can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out.
My 13 are up.
Sounds like a great ready list. My husband was beating his head because you sent me to Book Closeouts. HAHAHAHA (evil laughter).
Oh, dear, I don’t think I’ve read any of these! I will have to update my wishlist. 🙂 Happy TT!
I have got to read Susan Kandel as I keep hearing good stuff about her books! Glad to see it made it as one of your top reads for last year. I have the first one in the series but just haven’t gotten around to it.
Great list! Runaways is terrific – it’s one of my favourite comic books. Although my husband and I get each issue as it’s released, instead of waiting for the trade paperbacks. I’ll have to check out some of the other books on your list.
Happy TT. 🙂
Wow!
I am an avid reader and I have not heard of any of these books!
Good list, I will have to find out why I have not heard about them.
Have a wonderful Thursday!
My TT is posted
Terrific list. I love these lists because they expose me to new authors. I really wanted to read the Setterfield book. I’ll go read your review now.
Good, varied list of favorites! Tis never too late to post ‘best of’ lists in my opinion, especially when they are about books. Its actually better now because you avoided being just one of a glut of people doing the same thing!
Cool list. I am DYING to read Eragon. I read Carpe Demon, but not the sequel, and as for the others on the list… guess I’m not as well-read as I thought!
Happy TT! I’m off to … get my hands on some books.
Great idea for a list! Maybe I’ll try my hand at this next week…if I can remember back over the books I read in 2006.
Now that I’ve seen the movie, I need to read Eragon.
Christine – Just make sure you get Destiny, as it’s the first (and best) one!
Chickadee – I have yet to start Eldest. Other books keep holding precedence. I’ll get to it soon, I’m sure.
Amy – Just make sure you keep an eye on the Promotions tab.. When I ordered from them, I got 2 books free!
Iliana – I’ve read Kandel’s I Dreamed I Married Perry Mason (the first one) too, but I just liked Not a Girl Detective better.
Caylynn – It is hard waiting on the TPB, but it’s so much cheaper.. And I love the size of the small trade.
Rene – That’s why I love reading book blogs.. They’re constantly exposing me to new books or just ones I’d never have picked up otherwise.
Carl – True.. “Variety is the spice of life”.. and all that crap. lol
Susan – I’m sure you’d love the sequel, California Demon. The character development is great, and the plot’s a little better.
Alyssa – I’ll be looking forward to your list too!
great list. I’ve been looking for some good reads and I haven’t read any of those. Thanks for some good ideas.
My TT is up too.
Stacie
I absolutely adore Julie Kenner’s demon hunter series and can’t wait for the next one this year!
Great list. I’ve loved both Eragon books, and anxiously await the finale. (the movie was a little too short though, but the books are always better than the movie anyway!)
No Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince?
Angela – I forgot that came out this year! Yes, that should be near the top of my list.. #3!
That’s awesome that you’re getting sent stuff for review. Your site must really have taken off and people are into it. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to make some money off of this some day… maybe even go full time.
I’ve read some great books this year but haven’t done a great job at keeping track of them.
Excited for you to read Eldest. It’s an awesome sequel!
Happy TT!
Billy – Wouldn’t that be nice! I’d settle for fulltime artist though…
Annie – I didn’t do so great a job keeping track either… I was in my spare room last night, looking through my shelves of books, trying to remember which ones I read this year!
I have only read one on your list! The Harry Potter book…I didn’t read much this year, I’m sad to say. BUT I plan to read much more this year! Already finished one book in the winter classic challenge that I’m in!
I’m going to add some of the books you have listed to my wishlist. Thanks!
I have yet to read any Harry Potter. The last book of the year that I read was Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk. Really strange.
more books. lol
i am curious about the California Demon book.
thanks for visiting my tt this week.
I am sadly unfamiliar with all except for Eragon, The Spy Who Loved Me and Harry Potter. However, I am glad to visit your site and become more informed about the sci-fi genre.
By the way, does it help that I liked the movie Eragon better than the book? That is very unusual for me, but in this case, true.
Bellezza – Hmm.. well, the movie was definitely more fast-paced.. I just wish it had been longer.
I must admit, I don’t know anything about the books on your list. But I applaud you for reading that much in one year! Definitely something I need to work on.
Sooo…were there lots of hot–er, I mean pictures in the Filming of Casino Royale? Is that something I should rush out and get so I can have inspiration sitting next to my desk while I”m writing?
I have got to get to The Thirteenth Tale…it’s been taunting me for weeks now.
Very good list.
Colleen – There are some good photos of Craig in the book. (Some extremely hot.) But a lot of random shots of other people in the cast as well.
Check it out in the bookstore… It’s not super long. And Borders has it on sale for $17.
I feel like the Santa in Miracle on 34th Street, telling everyone where to find the cheapest places to buy certain books. LOL
Great post! Gonna have to update my To-Read List. 🙂
oh my – we can’t forget Harry Potter! 🙂
More scifi suggestions! Fabulous. I followed you here from One Woman Army and I’ll be back. You should check out Strange Dark Gypsy Girl – you seem to have some similar book tastes (ones that I happily share). Thanks for all the great tips.
I’ve been looking for a great list of books. One of my goals for 2007, is to read a book a month. The Rogue Angel, looks like a good one to start with.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy TT!
My son loved Eragon and the sequel…we haven’t seen the movie yet. And I share your appreciation of The Thirteenth Tale!
Being a book lover, I’m so glad I read your TT. I must have missed this genre of books.. now I can write them down! Thanks 🙂
Buttercup – Great, thanks for visiting! I’ll go check out that blog too.
Wow..what a mix.
Good for you…I tend to get stuck on the same stuff…it is only my cool mom who finds new things for me to check out.
Oh how I loved Casino Royale, I came back in love with Blond Bond. I bet the book is fun.
I so want to read Eragon! but when? Enjoyed looking over your list and I’m going to be adding a few to my TBR list. Thanks for the suggestions.
Great list. I may have to use it when fulfilling my new years resolution aboout reading more!
And thanks for visiting my Thursday Thirteen #24 New Years Resolutions Edition.
Booklogged – Yeah, I guess Eragon wouldn’t classify as a classic yet. LOL Hope you get around to it though!
Oh, I loved this! More books to add to my wish list.
I’m reading _Eragon_ right now and really like it – thanks for the confirmation of its worthiness ! 🙂 and thanks for visiting my TT!
Interesting list of books and a few there I may try this year. I’m planning on rereading some books this year (George RR Martin’s ASOIAF series) but it should be another good year for reading.
Belated Happy New Year !
you read some good ones last year! I’ll have to add some of those to my list!
I am soooo mad and the movie Eragon! It was a horrible representation of the book. Really bad – I was looking forward to this film for months. The problem was not the acting… they could have even gotten away with the cheesy lines. I blame this all on the director for poor storytelling and horrendous cinematography.
I cannot wait to get my hands on Eldest.
