Book Review: Charmfall

Charmfall by Chloe Neill

Lily Parker is a Junior at St. Sophia, an elite girls boarding school. Even though she has to deal with the soul-sucking Reapers, a vampire turf war, and a werewolf boyfriend with disapproving parents, Lily decides to help with the party planning for the upcoming fall dance. But when she comes across a Reaper feeding off a fellow student, Lily soon realizes that her powers aren’t working. Her entire group of Adepts is without their powers as well. Someone has taken the magic from everyone in Chicago, Adepts and Reapers alike. With no clues but an old myth, Lily may have to make a deal with the enemy to discover what’s going on.

Third in the Dark Elite series, Charmfall picks up immediately where Hexbound left off. Lily and Jason’s relationship is strained with his family pressure. And Sebastian is an intriguing character, and a perfect fit for a love triangle with Lily. I hope their relationship continues and develops further, and that we learn more about him.

The Dark Elite is a fantastically fun and exciting young adult series. With plenty of mystery, humor, danger, and excitement – Charmfall is another irresistible installment in a first rate urban fantasy series. Neill’s characters are intensely vivid and completely riveting. Don’t miss this fast-paced, roller coaster ride of teenage angst, magic and suspense.

Charmfall releases from NAL on January 3, 2012.
