Trance by Kelly Meding
Teresa “Trance” West lost her telepathic abilities as a child, during the Meta War. Fifteen years later, her powers have come back. But her abilities are more than what she had, much more dangerous and they may be too much for her to handle. Meanwhile, she isn’t the only one to get her powers back. The rest of the super-powered hero Rangers as well as their nemesis the Bane have as well. But the most dangerous criminal, one who can possess the body and mind of almost anyone he chooses is back and killing again.
Trance is a strong, natural leader, who immediately falls for a fellow team member from her past. Meding’s world of supernatural “Meta humans” give a feeling of a darker version of the X-Men. There is certainly more death, heart ache, and romance in this action-packed new brand of super heroes.
Blending science fiction and urban fantasy, this story will appeal to comic book and paranormal romance fans alike. Fast-paced, full of adventure, mystery, magic, and mayhem – it’s pure excitement from beginning to end. With several twists and surprises along the way, there was never a dull moment. Trance and her Rangers show plenty of promise. I would love to see more of these characters and their abilities extend into a long series.
