Synopsis:

Review:
Jaron is the reluctant king of Carthya. But until he’s older, the Regents really rule the land. Jaron has matured since obtaining the throne and is unwilling to leave Carthya in the hands of possibly corrupt leaders. Meanwhile, a neighboring kingdom is threatening war with the power of a pirate army behind them. Jaron feels the only way to take back control of his realm and stand up to an oncoming war is to run. But instead of running away, he runs towards danger with a daring and seemingly impossible plan.
This is the second installment in The Ascendance Trilogy. A fast-paced and action-packed swash-buckling adventure, this sequel is even more exciting than the first. Jaron reminds me of a younger version of Alex Bledsoe’s Eddie LaCrosse – smart, funny, and always has a plan. Adventure and mystery, mixed with humor, The Runaway King is involves unforgettable characters, a complex plot, and a compelling story.
