Yep, this one looks really fun. I saw the trailer a couple of times at the theatre this past week. I’m really curious if they ‘borrowed’ the jumping idea from the science fiction classic, The Stars My Destination as the ‘jaunting’ in there, and the way the kid first does it, is very similar in nature to that book. Should be very fun.
Actually, it’s based on the novel “Jumper” by Stephen Gould.
Then my next question would be how much Stephen Gould’s novel was influenced by Alfred Bester’s 1956 story. Of course there is nothing new under the sun, so ideas like this are bound to find themselves recycled in the course of writing even when a person hasn’t read other similar works.
