This year, I was able to drive up to Motor City Comic Con in Novi, MI again. There were too many great guests to miss this huge show. I attended this con as a fan, instead of press, so no interviews this time around. But I did want to share some photos from the convention with you all.
Dean wasn’t in great form that day. But it was still great to meet a favorite actor from an all-time favorite show – Quantum Leap.
Sam Huntington said this wasn’t his first convention, but it was his first convention where he could sign autographs and meet his fans. Syfy’s Being Human star was just as sweet and down-to-earth as he appears. Not all werewolves are scary.
Dirk Benedict (Original Battlestar Galactica and A-Team) and I
As before, Benedict was great with his fans, taking time to talk to each one. He’s very approachable. And there was a line at his booth all day. This is how to treat your fans.
He also got flirty again. I didn’t mind.
I was also able to meet 90210 (original) heartthrob Ian Ziering. Yes, this is more of a pop culture convention than simply science fiction.
Had to get a picture of this. This is the difference between Battlestar Galactica stars Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch’s tables. Notice the large group of people in front of Benedict’s table. Not so much in front of Hatch’s.
Maybe it has to do with sitting like this behind your booth and wearing sunglasses indoors.
And here are various costumed attendees and other fun stuff:
I highly recommend this fantastic fan-run con, if you’re ever able to attend.
Saw you there at the con walking around. It was a good time again this year. But I wish the Trek celebs had spoken on Saturday when I attended.
I felt like we kept walking in circles all day!
I was really disappointed with the programming this year. In past years there were many more Q&As.
Will you be at DragonCon this year?
Probably not this year. It’s a fun con though. Maybe if gas prices drop back down considerably.
Myself and Wonder Woman attended the MCCC and had a great time. Looking foward to attending next year. We even entered the Costume Contest even though we knew we were not going to win. We do it all for the FUN FACTOR! Hope to see you next year.
I was a little bummed with Dean Stockwell’s attitude, too. He just didn’t seem very happy to be there, and didn’t say much. It intimidated me a bit, so we only talked a little bit. It was still lovely to meet him & get an autograph, though.
Also, Richard Hatch ended up being my favorite guest. He was very kind and friendly. Perhaps you just caught him at a bad time? Either way, when I approached his booth, he immediately started talking to me about the show and was incredibly enthusiastic about taking a photo with me, even going so far as to give me a hug. Considering the friendliness level of him compared to Dean, I wish I had gotten Richard’s autograph instead, although I am grateful to Dean, I just wish he would have been a bit nicer.
Still, I had a blast! Although I didn’t get to see Kate Mulgrew, as I didn’t see her there on Sunday. 🙁
Did John Wesley Shipp ever show up? We didn’t see him on Saturday.
He was a favorite last time he was a guest at Motor City.
Kate Mulgrew is not looking well at all….
Shame about Dean Stockwell….he must have tons of stories to tell.
Uh yeah, Kate was a bit of a surprise. :/
My wife and I had a table there this year (Bebop Art)and I was suprized at Kate Mulgrew as well. I hope shes ok. She (according to the people running the show) was peeved cuz her line dwindled to nothing after the first hour she was there and George Takei had peeps lined up for hours. She called in sick on sunday. Bummer. Brent was pretty dam funny, he kept leaving his booth and walking around introducing himself to other actors and people. He was SUPER friendly with kristen Bauer ha! I almost bumped into poor Felix like every morning during setup, he was a cool dude. The Evil Dead guys are friends of my moms best Friend so we talked about Bruce Campbell and whotnot. I wish he had come this year but oh well. All in all it was a ton of fun and were definitly getting a table next year too.
Shipp had to withdraw unfortunately due to the good fortune of landing a gig married to Kathy Griffin on DROP DEAD DIVA…messy divorce…should be fun!
Mobetta,
Thanks! That is good news and a good reason to cancel!
Bubba, I can’t believe Mulgrew thinks she’s in the same league as Takei. It would be one thing if she was as outgoing and friendly as some others were. But she just sat there and stewed.
