Celebrating the release of Casino Royale this past Tuesday, here are 13 Reasons Daniel Craig is now the Best Bond:
1. He has the best build for someone who’s supposed to be good at fighting. He’s actually believable as a spy.
2. He had to overcome a lot of suspicion that he’d be a decent Bond. He’s blond and not a pretty-boy. And everyone ended up being more than surprised (me included) and loving him.
3. He’s the only straight man that can pull-off wearing a Speedo.
4. He doesn’t need fancy, high-tech gadgets to get the job done.
5. The man gets poisoned, stabs himself in the neck with a syringe, goes into cardiac arrest, gets electro-shocked back, and gets right back up to face the bad guy! I’m sorry, but no other actor could have pulled that one off either.
6. He laughs while being tortured.
7. He keeps up with Africa’s version of Spider-Man.
8. We get to see his character develop over the course of the movie, how he becomes the hardened Bond we know him to be.
9. He goes from driving a Ford to an Aston Martin. What other Bond would have been caught dead driving a Ford? And Craig still looked cool.
10. No cheesy puns. One of my least favorite parts about the last couple Bond movies.
11. He certainly fills out a tuxedo nicely.
12. Craig embodies the Bond from Ian Fleming’s original novels. Casino Royale has gotten back to its roots.
13. After watching Casino Royale, I have to confess that Craig is the hottest Bond. Sorry, Sean Connery. You’ve just been pushed to 2nd place. And I never thought it’d happen. But you just can’t beat those baby blues.
I’m watching it RIGHT NOW! When he puts on that tuxedo and admires himself in the mirror I melt. And when he smiles I melt. I’m just melting all over the place. I never liked James Bond before–it’s the blond thing.
Wow, the DVD’s out already? It’s only been a month or so since we finally got it in the theaters. *sigh*
I agree–Daniel Craig is a great Bond. I know a few people, however, who’ve still refused to see the movie because they don’t like the way he looks. Boggles my mind.
Michelle – I tried to find a photo of that.. when he just puts on the tux. No such luck 🙁
Darla – Yeah, the turn around to DVD is averaging 3 months now!
I haven’t seen this yet, and I’ve been skeptical about him as Bond, but your list gives me hope. 🙂
It’s on my Netflix queue. At first I was meh about him as Bond. Now I can’t wait to see it.
Well, I hope you two enjoy him too.. I’m sure you will. 😉
We haven’t seen it yet.
I can’t wait now.
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
Thank you for your visit.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT’ing!

Raggedy
Oh yes, Daniel Craig is divine as Bond. In fact, he is the reason behind my TT today 🙂
We went and saw it in the theatre and I got my copy on Tuesday. He does make an excellent Bond and isn’t too hard on the eyes. Though I admit to a special fondness for both Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
The one thing I didn’t like about Casino Royale was some of the dialogue between him and the lead female. Blech. Corny!
I have not seen it yet. He is so hot! Making sure this is on the list.
Okay, you, like most of my friends and fellow writers, are perving over this Bond big time. I haven’t seen it yet! It’s my reward for finishing the book… which I did. Yay.
So I’ll be watching it Sunday after the conference is over. Have to say I’m looking forward to this speedo.
I’ve been intrigued with Craig as a choice for Bond from the beginning. I already think he’s stunning.
AMEN to #3!!!
The speedo comment had me laughing out loud, but it’s so true!!!
HOT, HOT Bond.
In the words of Homer Simpson “mmmm, Daniel Craig” *drool*.
Really? Really? I must be dead. I don’t feel it. But I love that you love him.
I loved him. But he’s still running second place for me. What can I say? Connery has won my heart and I will never relinquish it.
Although Craig did a fantastic job and I’m pleased he’s Bond, I wonder how Clive Owen or Ray Stevenson would have done. Admirably, I’m sure.
I am so ready for Netflix to send me this one.
Although it would probably help if I returned the movies I’ve got right now. 🙂
I’n not a bond fan but I do have to admit that from what i saw in previews, he did a decent job in the role.
and i love the line…(don’t know if this is completely accurate)
“Why can’t the nice boys be more like you.”
“because then they would be bad.â€Â
I’ve not watched it, but I think you’re probably right.
I was an initial skeptic too. “What? Bond can’t be blonde!”
I’ve never watched a Bond movie. I’ve seen maybe two or three mins. from a few of the movies.
I agree, this was the best Bond yet. I think they fixed all of my complaints I ever had on Bond movies. This will be the first one I buy.
I’m a big Bond fan and would say that Craig is a phenomenal Bond and is #2 on my list. In many ways that you list, he’s a much better Bond than Connery. But Connery still stays #1 on my list because he was the original and still so damn sexy.
Happy TT!
Isn’t he the most awesome guy? I think he is my favorite as well. He brings so much to the role although he has stated he will not take his shirt off as much in the next one. Bummer.
I’ll be watching this Sunday and I can’t wait!! Though I have to argue with point number 5…Jack Baur could do it.
Not to mention that he has that bad boy appeal and by that I mean he has got that villain appeal too. MMMM….he is yummy.
Connery will always be the tops!
Casino Royale was the first Bond movie I actually liked. I’m sure Daniel Craig had nothing to do with that – wink, wink.
WOW Daniel Graig sure does look HOT! I haven’t seen Casino Royale yet, but I been planning to once the DVD come out 🙂
Great list and I do agree he is hot! Happy Thursday Thirteen!
I’ll watch it later and reserve judgment until then. HOWEVER; the best Bond in my mind was not Connery but DALTON! Of course I wasn’t judging on speedo filling and body shape either. That is a chick thing. 🙂
My T13 #33 is up it is the 13 Quotes About Men Edition Stop by if you get the chance.
Haven’t seen this one yet, but Number Two Daughter loved it, and I trust her judgement.
Funny list.
I give up… 😉
I am new to Thursday 13, but I loved that post so much I need to share that link all by itself with everyone on my blog! 🙂
I agree wholeheartedly with #1 and #11. *g*
I’ve got to see this movie!!!
oh ugh! the site wouldn’t believe I checked the pretty checkbox and now my comment is gone *sigh*
now, what was I ranting about earlier? ah yes…
Daniel does make a great Bond, but I have to disagree with the suggestion that he beats out Sean Connery as the best Bond. Daniel just doesn’t ooze sex the way Sir Sean did. I also couldn’t stop laughing at the way he seemed to fall into and out of that Scots brogue during Casino Royale.
Granted, my eyes tell me a 70 year old Sean Connery looks much better than he did in his Bond hey day. I wonder what Daniel will look like when he’s old?
Thanks, Sherrie!
This list is awesome! I haven’t seen it yet, but I can’t wait. This guy is HOT! I HATED Roger Moore…..thought Timothy Dalton was awful. Pierce was too pretty. I also liked Sean Connery, but I think you might be right!
BEST Bond ever. Never liked the others much, cheesy, cheesy. He was not only the best Bond, this movie had the best writing of any Bond movie. Going to buy the DVD today!
Alyssa/Alesia – Good point. Definitely the best writer(s) on this one. The dialog is so much better!
yes he is the hottest Bond ever! and I loved the scene in the shower… that was so great. I loved that you got to see such a soft side of Bond. They have never done that before and it was SO GREAT. He was great. Craig is the only one who I think could pull that off and still be Bond.
We just rented Casino Royale. Gonna watch it during this God-forsaken snowstorm.
Couldn’t agree more here – I liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond but there was still something lacking, a grittiness and realism which has been adequately filled by Craig.
Blonde and blue-eyed – just how I like ’em! 🙂
I’d say YES 13 times because I agree with all 13 of them. My fave was #10 – no cheesy lines. I HATE those.
This guy is the BEST Bond ever. Sean was very good but Craig in Casino Royale won the first place. Can’t wait to see the next film which should start where this one left off with Mr. White. 🙂
I’ve left comments on this one already… but I had to visit again. I love him… I watched ‘layer cake’ the other day just for him… beyond dreamy. 🙂
