Synopsis:
Before he was the Gray Man, Court Gentry was Sierra Six, the junior member of a CIA action team.
In their first mission they took out a terrorist leader, at a terrible price. Years have passed. The Gray Man is on a simple mission when he sees a ghost: the long-dead terrorist, but he’s remarkably energetic for a dead man.
A decade of time hasn’t changed the Gray Man. He isn’t one to leave a job unfinished or a blood debt unpaid.
Review:
This is the first Gray Man novel I have read, but I was assured by the publicist that this was wholly standalone. And they were right. The story switches back and forth from Gentry’s early Sierra Six mission to current day as he tries to tie off loose ends from the old mission. It’s a great introduction to the character, and would be a great backstory for those who are already fans.
This is an action-packed story that reads like a movie. It’s plot-driven with plenty of intrigue and engaging characters. It was an intimidating length, but was a quick, easy read. It was well-paced and a lot of fun. Parts were fairly predictable, but didn’t detract from the intense suspense. I would definitely check out more in this series, as it reminds me of the popular Jack Reacher series as well.
