Star Trek: Picard’s Academy is a new comic series from IDW that follows Jean-Luc Picard as a sophomore at Starfleet Academy. Picard excels in his studies, yet he also has a rival who’s a bit of a bully. Next Generation will also get to see a few familiar faces from his younger years. The artwork and subject matter feels like it’s for a younger crowd so far. Yet I was still enjoyed the fresh take and colorful characters. The first issue leaves off on a cliffhanger that definitely left me wanting more. I’m excited for the rest of this promising new series.
