Blue Moon

Blue Moon

Blue Moon, by Alyson Noel is the 2nd book in The Immortals series.

Damen has been teaching Ever more about her immortality and her abilities. But when a new boy at school seems to be charming everyone, Ever is suspicious. Suddenly Damen seems to be getting ill and forgetting things, and Ever thinks that the new guy is somehow responsible. Ever must travel to the Summerland and figure out a way to save Damen. But in turning back the clock, she has a chance to save her family as well.

In a thrilling sequel to Evermore, Damen’s past comes back to haunt him again. But this time, he can’t fight back. Ever is forced to face a mysterious enemy, classmates that have turned against her, and even Damen pushes her away. With even more suspense, this installment had a lot of build-up to a climactic ending. In my review of Evermore I likened this series to Twilight, but the feeling of this novel is quite a bit different. Ever and Damen’s relationship is not able to progress because of his illness. And a majority of the story is Ever trying to deal with heart-breaking scenarios, with no one to turn to. The entire cast of characters behave like they’ve been invaded by body snatchers.

Ever is a great character. Her friends aren’t completely likeable, but she’s a bit of an outcast anyway. This is a highly entertaining series for young genre fans. It’s a quick read that is hard to put down. Vivid and intense, Blood Moon was an impressive sequel.
