Today’s Thursday Thirteen will be my 13 favorite Vampires from the big and small screens:
1. Bela Lugosi’s Dracula – Of course, the most famous blood sucker. He set the par. Often misquoted, he never actually said, “I vant to suck your blood.”
Memorable Quote: To die, to be really dead, that must be glorious!
2. Henry Fitzroy (from Blood Ties) – Fast becoming one of my favorite new shows. Henry, the 450-year-old vampire and illegitimate son of Henry VIII, is a artist for graphic novels and helps Vicki out with her supernatural cases.
Memorable Quote:
Henry: Where are you going?
Vicki: Husband hunting.
Henry: (indicating himself) Husband material.
Vicki: You’re sweet, but you’re just not a morning person.
3 & 4. Angel & Spike (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) – Had to include the two most drooled-over vampires on tv. Of course, this Whedon tv adaptation from a movie that bombed ended up being a cult hit.
Memorable Quotes:
Angel: Don’t worry. I’m not here to eat.
Spike: Angel’s as dull as a table lamp, and we have much different coloring.
5. Blade – Half-vampire, half-human, Blade supresses his vampire side and hunts the blood suckers.
Memorable Quote:
Blade: There are worse things out tonight than vampires.
Dr. Karen Jenson: Like what?
Blade: Like me.
6. Lost Boys – Teen hearthrobs of every girl my age. As cheesy as it is, it’s still a classic.
Memorable Quote:
David: It is too late, my blood is in your veins.
Michael Emerson: So is mine!
7 & 8. Selene & Michael Corvin (from Underworld) – She’s a vampire that hunts lycans (werewolves). And he’s just become one. But then, he gets hit with some vampire juice. And look out. He’s a vampire/lycan hybrid and uglier than I ever thought they could makeover a pretty boy.
Memorable Quote:
Selene: Lycans are allergic to silver. We have to get the bullets out quickly, or they end up dying on us during questioning.
Michael Corvin: What happens to them afterward?
Selene: We put the bullets back in.
9. George Hamilton’s Dracula (from Love at First Bite) – This vampire spoof is classic.
Memorable Quote: I’m going out for a bite to drink.
10. Grandpa and Lily Munster – Speaking of classics, this family of Munsters made horror funny.
Memorable Quote:Grandpa Munster: Herman! Herman, please! How many times do I have to tell you not to pound stakes while I’m around? You know it gives me heartburn!
11. Maximillian (from Vampire in Brooklyn) – He may be an evil vampire, but he’s still as funny and attractive as ever.
Memorable Quote:[Max pulls a bit of Tony the gangster out of his teeth] I just had Italian.
12. Leslie Nielsen’s Dracula (from Dracula: Dead and Loving It) – Mel Brooks does it again. This time Dracula is dumber than ever.
Memorable Quote:I was having a daymare.
13. Nick Knight (from Forever Knight) – This was another favorite show while I was growing up. A vampire police detective with a sense of humor.
Memorable Quote:Word to the wise – immortality is no excuse not to floss.
Oh, I like all of those–well, all of the ones I’ve seen. Which is all but Maximilian & Nick Knight. And I only know Henry Fitzroy from the books.
But Forever Knight is already in my Netflix queue (which is as big as my TBR pile), and I just added Vampire in Brooklyn. Thanks for the suggestion!
I totally forgot about Forever Knight. It was a great show. I have a soft spot for The Lost Boys movie. I watched that over and over when I was a teen. LOVE it!
I love Edward. That is a really good show.
I am so impressed that David Boreanez now has a career w. Bones. I totally forget he was Angel in this new role. And, I LOVE Angel.
I watch The Lost Boys every time it comes on.
I ma going to add Forever Knight to my Netflix
Angel and Spike were HOT! 🙂 I will not admit that as an adult I loved the series, and the spin-off! I want “Bones” today because of David B.! Haha!

Oh man! you pulled out some oldies! Geez,I feel old.
Oh…. great list! #2 is definitely droolishious!
Never heard of Blood Ties but it sounds fabulous. Great list, although I may have put Lestat in there somewhere too.
I LOVE and adore The Lost Boys
Ha, I remember Nick Knight. Have seen the show only a couple of times in late-night re-runs, but I remember that I quite liked it. Guess that makes me old-ish, too. LOL
But of course, Spike and Angel are the essential vampires nowadays. Then again, Whedon-creatures usually tend to be. ;o)
I adore Henry Fitzroy! (Kyle Schmid’s Henry, that is.) Blood Ties is so much more than I thought it was going to be. So glad to see him included on your list!
Mark Frankel – from the very short lived adaptation of Kindred – wasn’t bad. And, come to think of it, I loved Adrian Paul’s turn as Aaron Gray in The Breed, too.
A well chosen group. I would have added Nosferatu from the silent movie.
Cool list! I love vampire movies, too 🙂 I have to agree with most of your list, but I would have added Gerard Butler from Dracula 2000. It was a stupid movie, but he was a tasty vampire!
My T-13 is up! http://jenanddavin.blogspot.com/
Great list of vamps! I’m a huge fan of Bela, and I also love The Lost Boys and the Munsters. 🙂
Happy TT, and thanks for visiting my blog!
Great list. I love Blood Ties, but I think they should have kept him a romance writer (I still think that’s too funny).
“immortality is no excuse not to floss.”
A real keeper, for sure. *heh*
I wonder, has anyone written a story about a vampire dentist?
Great list!! I loved Spike. Angel got too brooding for me….which is really weird because I always tend to go for the dark, brooding types!!
Lost Boys is STILL one of the best vampire movies out there……along with After Dark and I actually really like Queen of the Dammend. Stuart Townsand was a pretty hot bloodsucker!! A WAY better Lestat than Tom Cruise!
It must be vampire week! I’m sensing a theme.
Ah, Love at First Bite. I loved that movie when I was a kid. Forever Knight, I totally remember that show, shot in Toronto where I grew up. 😉
Happy TT, I still think of your 13 least favorite aliens and laugh about Tom Cruise!!!
What about sexy, sexy Brad and Tom in Interview with a Vampire? Great post! I love vampire movies too!
Frank Langella from the 70s Dracula movie is my all-time favorite vampire.
I haven’t seen Blood Ties. Where/when is it on? Excuse my ignorance, but I’m only just now discovering my inner vamp lover.
My fave would be Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire. I loved his ‘troubledness’. That’s a word, right? 😉
That brought back memories. I haven’t seen blood ties either – will probably wait to buy on DVD. And yeah – lost boys….sigh.
Wylie – Supposedly, Blood Ties will be airing in Canada this fall. Which is strange, since it’s not only based in.. but filmed in Canada as well! And it releases here in the US first. Go figure.
Great list! Count me in as an adult who loved Buffy! Okay, I’ve missed all of Blood Ties. When and where. He looks verra nice.
Love this list. I was a huge Lost Boys fan when it came out. I remember having posters on my college dorm room walls. It is indeed a classic. Fantastic soundtrack!
Mary and I just re-watched Underworld: Evolution the other day. Love those films.
Rinda – Oh, you’ve just missed the first season! It’s on Lifetime on Sunday nights. I’m sure you can still catch reruns though.
I did a couple write-ups on it here:

and here:

.. I think you’d enjoy the books too, if you haven’t read them!
Love The Munsters Grandpa and Lillian! I’d have to say I loved Gerard Butler’s Dracula 2000 as well – when I first saw it, he seemed perfect for the Count Saint-Germain. What wouldn’t I give to see Saint-Germain brought to the screen!
This is a great list! I still have not seen ‘Blood Ties’ since I don’t have cable but I’ll have to buy the season when it comes out.
