My Favorite Aliens

This one was really hard to narrow down. But here are my 13 favorite aliens from my favorite shows:

1. Superman – Big Blue has to top the list in pretty much everything for me. But when an alien from another planet decides to make Earth his home and defend it with his life. That’s worth the top spot right there.

2. E.T. – Gentle and peaceful, E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial, is probably the most beloved little alien amongst children. He came to Earth to study plant life, and gets help from a little boy to “phone home.”

3. Spock (from Star Trek) – Leonard Nimoy made this emotionless Vulcan scientist and explorer an icon decades ago. I shudder to think what another actor will do to the role in the upcoming Star Trek movie.

4, 5, 6. Max, Isabel, and Michael (from Roswell) – Easily one of my favorite all-time shows, cancelled before it’s time. Max, Isabel, and Michael crash on Earth as small children and are raised by human families. As they grow older, they discover and begin to control their powers… and learn the true reason they came to Earth. Helmed by none other than Star Trek: TNG’s, Jonathan Frakes, this show had plenty of drama, teenage angst, special effects, and comedy.
What more could you ask for?

7. Teal’c (from Stargate: SG-1) – He’s stiff and formal, but every once in an while shows us he has a sense of humor.
Teal’c was the head of the Jaffa guard for Apophis. But when a group of humans show up and ask for help to escape the false god, Teal’c decides they’re his best chance of fighting Apophis. Now a valued-member of Stargate’s SG-1 team, Teal’c explores new planets and helps defend Earth from it’s various nemeses.

8. Zaphod Beeblebrox (from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) – Zaphod was President of the Galaxy for a short time. Now, he travels the galaxy in his stolen ship called the Heart of Gold, taking advantage of it’s Infinite Improbability Drive. He’s stupid and narcissistic, but he makes for a hilarious and memorable character.

9. Vala Mal Doran (from Stargate: SG-1) – And of all witty aliens, Vala tops them all. She’s clever, outgoing, and light-hearted. A career thief with a heart of gold. Now a member of SG-1 as well, Vala has been a considerable asset to the team. As the mother of the Orici, she has a unique position in helping Earth to defeat the evil Ori race. And the unique chemistry she has with Daniel Jackson is another big reason to tune in.

10. Worf (from Star Trek: the Next Generation) – The first Klingon to become an officer of Starfleet, Worf starts a lot of trends with his role on the Enterprise. All of the sudden, Klingons have ridges on their foreheads that don’t get explained for years. But he also helped spurn a cult-like following of Klingon lovers that seem to multiply like Tribbles at every scifi convention.

11. Chewbacca (from Star Wars) – Though never speaking anything other than growls, this Wookie is one of Star Wars most beloved characters. Chewbacca is the only Wookie we really see in the original trilogy. But in the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978, we see more of them than we ever wanted to. I wish I could take back those minutes of my life that I wasted watching it on YouTube.

12. Detective George Francisco (from Alien Nation) – From one of my One-Hit-Wonders, George is one of the Newcomer aliens that gets a job working as a Los Angeles Police Detective. The Newcomers were slaves for the ruthless Overseers. When their ship crashed on Earth, they found freedom, and are now trying to live and work among humans. The show was almost more drama than science fiction, dealing with moral and ethical issues of racism.

13. Starman – Another great classic scifi film from the 80’s that made a stint as a tv series as well. The Starman comes to Earth because of the invitations from Voyger‘s space probes. He is shot down by a military aircrafy and is forced to take human form and search for help.

  1. Wonderful list! A lot of my favo aliens are from Star Trek: Spock, Odo, Data (hmm, alien?), Worf…
My TT lists the 13 goals of a witch, with my thoughts and comments.

  2. What? No Uncle Martin? Or those gods on Star Trek that, in their true form, were like clouds of light? 🙂

They’re going to have someone else playing Spock? That’s just not right.

  3. Tink – Odo was another great one. But Data is an android, created by a human.. so not an alien. But definitely one of my favorite robots! lol

Darla – That was well before my time, so I never watched My Favorite Martian.. sorry!

  4. I really love Teal’c and Vala. Mine you it’s Stargate so that has something to do with it. And I agree with Odo. He’s my daughter’s favourite. 🙂

  5. Odo would definitely be on my list as well. Zaphod and Spock are also favorites. Don’t know any of the Stargate people, because I could never get into that series, but this Teal’c guy looks pretty nice… ;o)

  6. I’, with Darla: Uncle Martin was great. You really need to catch My Favorite Martian on Nick or somewhere like that. Some great stuff there. Apart from that gaping hole :-), the rest of the list is really good–but then, you knew that when you made it up.

Hmmm… I may ditto your idea but taking my fav aliens from books NOT made into shows. Thanks for a great meme! 🙂

  7. Starman used to be one of my favorite movies, but I haven’t seen it in years!!

I guess I never really consider Superman an alien!! Too funny.

  8. I LOVE Vala. When her daughter, the Orisi, was talking about her army, Vala said, “I’m your Mother, and I ForBid you to have an army.”

Starman. Cool. I forgot about Starman. I loved that movie. The way he clicked when he talked. I never could figure out how to do that.
