TMNT

I went to TMNT just for some nostalgia. I actually don’t like most animated movies. So my hopes weren’t too high. I just remember the old cartoon fondly from my school days.

What a fun surprise! I absolutely loved every minute of the movie. It was definitely more action-packed than the live version movies ever were. But then, you can only move so fast and agile while wearing giant rubber suits.

The voices and animation for the Turtles were great. Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello all had their unique personalities and fun quirks. Unfortunately, the human characters weren’t drawn well and were pretty disappointing. But thankfully, I wasn’t watching it for them. It’s about the Turtles.

In this story, time has past since the events of the first three movies. And Leo returns from training in Central America. But he soon finds that the brothers not only have to battle crazy monsters, the Foot Clan, and immortal beings from the past; but they also have to get past their differences and learn to become a team again.

With plenty of laughs, warmth, mystery, and action, this may be the first animated movie I buy on DVD in 10 years.

In Mikey’s famous words: “I love being a turtle!”

  1. I really want to take my kids to see this. They love the cartoon and I’d go just for fun. I was more a GI Joe girl, but my sister was hardcore into the turtles. 🙂

  2. So glad to hear this one was enjoyable. It is definitely one I want to Netflix on DVD once it comes out, for the same reason…nostalgia. One of my closest friends and I had alot of fun playing a TMNT game on one of the platforms that was out at the time, and by extension enjoyed the movies. I was hoping this would be an enjoyable reboot for the series.

  3. I loved the turtles! I even played the nintendo game… although… I never finished it. The movie looks good though, I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

  4. I liked them as a kid too! I would have been in the same boat with not setting the expectations too high! Glad it was a nice surprise. Hope you’re doing well. Happy Holy Week!

  5. I saw the move opening weekend and overall it was pretty cute. There were some slow parts where I almost dozed off at. The new April O’Neill got on my nerves and when I read the credits and found out that it was Sarah Michelle Gellar, it all made sense. She annoys me at times.

But in the end…”Turtle Power!” still rules.

  6. I totally didn’t know that it was computer animated. that must be better than the old rubber suits.

I so remember when that first movie came out and I was standing in line waiting for it to open with my little brother. I also had the coolest game boy game for TMNT!
